The world loves to see America cry

I remember when I first saw this video. I was in the 5th grade and 9/11 had recently happened. Surprisingly I remember the sentiment that I had and what I was thinking at the time. I was able to process the political significance of this and what Outkast was saying. America was seen as THE Superpower, the kid on the playground that everyone was jealous of but respected because he was the biggest, coolest, and strongest.

The title, "The Whole World" is claim to the hatred that America has accumulated over the years of it's birth as a Superpower nation. We have been a neo-imperialist and neo-colonialist country, I admit, and so should you. So there is little reason to why the rest of the world would not hate us, we are occupying their land through our military bases, and our influence on the world is quite ubiquitous and undeniable.

At the time I saw this video I was filled with some sense of patriotism, I was in affirmation that the rest of the world did hate us and that is why 9/11 happened (of course later on I found out the truth thanks to my own research and videos like Zeitgeist). But, what was to be said then, is true now. With America intervening in several nations affairs and always being the "police of the world" it can be understood why America is still the number one target across the world. The kid on the playground just can't learn to play with his own damn toys, or better yet, the kid wants to fix and tinker with everyone else's toys even though his own toys are broken and missing legs and arms.

But hey, this is America! We are a nation of freedom and equality for all, right? So let's spread that and "democracy" to others, if they hate us, so be it!
